Jesinta Campbell is the latest to be crowned Miss Universe Australia after winning the pageant in 2010.
Jesinta is a lively 18 year old ready to make her mark on the world, living in Gold Coast she was Aquanis College’s School Captain and was awarded the General Excellence award and a scholarship for journalism at Bond University.
Jesinta was heavily involved within the community, always participating in charity events which included organising her own charity event “Walk for Water” which raised funds for a clean-water stricken community.
After winning the runway section in a modelling competition in year 12 Jesinta decided to defer her scholarship and took the big leap into modelling. She experienced firsthand how modelling is a brave dream to follow, "along the way I have met incredible people and have experienced some wonderful things” Jesinta was awarded a modelling contract and lived in Shanghai, China for two months.
Jesinta’s love for charities, modelling, being on a stage and working with people were the perfect combination for her to enter Miss Universe Australia 2010, it was a great pathway for her to achieve her dreams.
Winning Miss Universe was no walk in the park for Jesinta “The preparation was hard work and very challenging; however I was determined and very focused on my goal.”
Jesinta’s family and friends were always there for support and they were always encouraging her to move forward. As Jesinta made it through to the finals she worked even harder and in the end it all paid off her her.
It wasn’t all a fairytale though, she thought her chances may have been ruined after a stumble on a question “I was so delighted on the night to make it to the top five and after fumbling the question I really thought I did not stand a chance. I could not believe it when they called my name as the winner. I was in a state of shock and disbelief.”
Nelson Mandela was once quoted saying "There is no passion to be found in playing small...in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of."
Jesinta says she feels very honoured and privileged to be an ambassador for Australia. “I love my country and I am proud of being a born and bred Gold Coast girl. I encourage people to go after their dreams and I am living proof that you can set goals and with determination, hard work, support and belief in yourself, they can come true.”
At 18 years old and already achieved so much the sky is the limit for Jesinta, we do know one thing though, this is the beginning of something very special.
Jesinta is an ambassador for Novo Shoes and has also become the face of Nude By Nature Mineral Makeup and Pierre Haddad Hair Management.
